The Local Black Stars made it to the quarter-finals of the 2014 CHAN tournament after posting a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia
A second half penalty converted by Kwabena Edusei was enough to hand the Local Black Stars all three points in their final Group C match at the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa.
The penalty was awarded after Seidu Bancey was brought down by Salahadin Bargicho in the 75th minute.
Ghana needed just a draw to advance to the next round but managed to carry the day to move to the summit of the table.
The first position was made possible after Libya and Congo settled for a 2-2 draw in the other group match.
Ghana bagged seven points while Libya also sailed through after collecting five points.
The Local Black Stars went into the match without a couple of key players including Yahaya Mohammed and Sulley Mohammed.
Maxwell Konadu’s boys will have to wait till tomorrow to know their next opponents at the knockout stages of the competition when the Group D encounters get underway.
Ghana could meet Gabon, Burundi or DR Congo at the quarter-finals.
The west African giants were losing finalists in the maiden edition held in Ivory Coast in 2009.
