The Indomitable Lions have set off on a positive note in their World Cup qualifying campaign with an impressive home win against the Hawks
The Anzhi Makhachkala striker scored a goal each in both halves to enhance their standing on the log as they battle to earn one of the five slots for Africa at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Eto’o, who made all the headlines prior to the fixture for his decision to abstain from sharing any facility with his team-mates over allegation of plots to kill him, silenced his critics with his immense contribution that left Didier Six and his charges packing without anything to smile about.
The former Barcelona and Inter star put his side in the lead from the spot in the 42nd minute with Togo cancelling out the lead on the stroke of half time. Both sides went into the interval with a 1-1 draw score.
However, it was the home side which proved the hungrier side when the 32-year-old broke the deadlock once again in the 72nd minute to move Cameroon on top of Group I with six points while Togo languish at the bottom with just a point.
The other game of the group is between Libya (four points) and DR Congo (three points).
