Wits secured a late 1-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in the ABSA Premiership final day of action on SaturdayCalvin Kadi capitalised on slack defending by Siwelele in the 90th minute to ensure that the Students finished in third place, and grabbed an Orange Caf Confederations Cup spot next year while at it.
This victory also sees them setting a new personal point-record tally in a season. They were first out of the starting blocks in what was virtually a dead-rubber affair for either side through Zimbabwean Benjani Mwaruwari's fierce shot at Patrick Tignyemb in the sixth minute, but it wasn't of any trouble whatsoever to Tignyemb who in the end saved comfortably.
Mwaruwari was again in the thick of things for the visitors from Braamfontein after his header from a Siyabonga Nhlapo cross went narrowly wide of goal five minutes to the interval.
Nhlapo then reacted a bit late to a Tebogo Moerane through ball a few minutes into the second half, because Tignyemb was already on hand to abort the danger.
With both sides happy to see each other out in the second half, it took Kadi coupled with a sleeping Siwelele rear-guard for the Students to seal the win and have one team emerge victorious from this clash.
