AmaZulu still have a good record of not losing to a lower division team, in the Nedbank Cup and they will be hoping to maintain that record on Wednesday night

Usuthu is coming into this match after a 0-0 draw against SuperSport United, in a league encounter last week Wednesday. Scoring goals is still a challenge for the PSL club.

During the off season, Usuthu played a number of friendly matches. Some of those matches included lower division clubs, so they will be used to this level of competition.

“We played a number of friendly matches during the off season and the players did well. I am hoping that this time as well they will do well against Royals,” said coach Rosslee.

After Maluti FET upset Orlando Pirates, the coach said they will be more careful when they play against an unknown team.

“This is football, we cannot take things for granted, they know how we play and we don’t (know them). I am sure they will be coming to this game being motivated already by the fact that they are playing against us.

Usuthu is expected to give players who have not had much of game time an opportunity. Cup games are all about achieving the result on the day, and players like Bongani Ndulula who has not featured much for Usuthu is one of the players that will be expected to prove he can make the difference. Ndulula played well in the friendly matches.

“My only concern with Ndulula, was that he was not hundred per cent fit, but I am sure he is now catching up. He has done well in our friendly matches and I am sure he will do well this time as well,” he said.

Other players expected to step up for Usuthu include Sibusiso Vilakazi, Nyiko Tshabangu and Makhosonke Bhengu. Although Bhengu featured in the second half against, SuperSport, he did not get many opportunities to score. He will be using this game to prove his worth after making a return to South Africa from Hong Kong.

Royals may be an unknown team but they have done well in their second division league thus far. They have only lost one match and they top the league with 34 points.

Playing against Usuthu will be a great opportunity for the players to showcase their talent. The club will be mainly depending on their experienced striker, Phikolethu Spelman. He is a former Santos striker and he is expected to give the Usuthu defence a hard time, as he is the top goalscorer in prolific form.
