AmaZulu welcome home the Platinum Stars outfit, needing a win when they play each other on Wednesday night at Moses Mabhida stadium
AmaZulu are coming into this match with full confidence after clinching a 2-1 victory over Moroka Swallows on Saturday. On the other hand Platinum Stars will be hoping to get maximum points after having played to a 2-2 draw against AmaTuks.
The home side is rather delighted to have their squad fully fit. The return of Thokozani Mshengu, who has had a good run this year is one of the players that are expected to give Platinum Stars defender Vuyo Mere a hard time.
“Mshengu is back, together with Bongumusa Mbhele. I think Mshengu will have a good game, he has been enjoying his game lately, so I trust that he will do well against Stars,” said coach Craig Rosslee.
Former Stars midfielder Joseph Malongoane will be hoping to excel against his former side.
“It will not be an easy game, as what is important here is to stay focused and not to put unnecessary pressure on myself. I think every player always want to do well against their former team, so for me as well, I look forward to doing well.
“This match should not be about me, but for the club. My attention is on ensuring that AmaZulu becomes victors at the end of the day,” said Malongoane.
Platinum Stars defender Benson Mhlongo will be a key player and if AmaZulu really want to break the wall and get some goals they will have to try and go pass Mhlongo first.
Bafana cap, Thuso Phala is another player that is due to trouble the Usuthu defence. Phala boasts speed from the midfield, attacking into the box and he makes a great combination with Lindokuhle Mbatha.
Both these players will be left in the hands of Carlington Nyadombo who said he wants to score against them this time. It will be remembered that the last time these two met, Nyadombo scored an own goal.
“I want to make up for what happened last time. They are a good team, we need to respect them and also try to score in the first half,” he said.
