Mamelodi Sundowns – Moroka Swallows Preview: Sundowns and Swallows in a do or die clash for a top eight spot
Mamelodi Sundowns will welcome Moroka Swallows at the Loftus Stadium on Tuesday night, as both teams are eyeing a top eight spot
By Ernest Makhaya
Swallows have been blowing hot and cold since the appointment of coach Zeca Marques at the beginning of the season, and despite guiding the team to MTN8 Cup victory, it has been difficult for him to replicate the same success in league games.
Sundowns have regained their rhythm lately, and are unbeaten under Pitso Mosimane, going 10 games without a loss. Hence, a win against Swallows will certainly be a great turnaround of fortunes against the team that beat them while they were down earlier this season.
Mosimane has not been shy of criticizing his senior players of late, but he is expected to go for the kill by throwing his whole arsenal into the field on Tuesday night.
The fans can expect a tough midfield-battle between the two captains from either sides, Sundowns’ Teko Modise and Swallows’ Lefa Tsutsulupa. However, Lerato Chabangu is another player that has always troubled his former teammates with his quick runs and an eye for goals.
The Brazilians are lying 10th on the log with 25 points, and know that maximum points against an inconsistent Swallows team will see them in the top eight. Swallows are occupying the 12th spot having collected 22 points in their last 20 games.
