SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows will clash in a Telkom Knockout quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon, with both sides aiming to reach the last four of the cup competition.

Cavin Johnson's influence over Matsatsantsa has seen the club score on a more consistent basis, after last season's record number of draws for the Pretoria-based side.

SuperSport should welcome back midfielder George Maluleka into the starting XI, after the midfielder declared himself fit for the quarterfinal.

Former Swallows player David Mathebula is expecting a tough encounter when facing his old club on Saturday, and believes that his new side needs to improve on a few issues before kickoff.

“I think it is going to be a tough game, looking at what they did this season, they [Moroka Swallows] have played very well and they have got some experienced players in their team,” Mathebula told the Telkom Knockout official website.

“We [SuperSport United] have also started very well and I think we are still doing well, obviously there is room for improvement and we will do our best to fix what is broken and try and improve our game.”

Mathebula believes that SuperSport's control over possession will win the encounter on Saturday and is confident in his team's ability to defeat his former club.

“I think we have to concentrate on our style, try and keep possession all the time. The more we keep possession, it will be easier for us to defend and create scoring opportunities for our forward players," he said.

“We want to get a positive result. We want to go through to the semifinal. We don’t prepare to lose. I think SuperSport is a team of champions so we will try our best to reach the final."

Moroka Swallows will rely on the deadly goal-scoring ability of loanee striker Edward Manqele, who has been in hot form since moving to the Dube Birds at the beginning of the season.

With Zeca Marques insisting that Manqele is yet to fire on all cylinders, SuperSport will need to find ways to tame the striker, who has been instrumental in the Dube Bird's positive start to the new season.

  • In the last 22 matches between the two sides, SuperSport has prevailed on nine occasions, while the Dube Birds have won five times. There have been eight draws.
  • Swallows defeated SuperSport 2-1 in the MTN 8 Cup earlier this year.
  • Mame Niang is Matsatsantsa's top goal scorer this season, with two goals to his name so far.
  • Edward Manqele is the most impressive striker from both sides, as he has scored four goals in merely six starts this season.
  • Zeca Marques led the Dube Birds to MTN 8 glory last season and is targeting another trophy in 2013.
