Orlando Pirates will look to hand Vladimir Vermezovic the perfect start to his stint with the Buccaneers, after the Serbian received his work permit and is free to take over the reins against Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday.
Having had a taste of the PSL with Kaizer Chiefs, Vermezovic has hopped the fence and will now concentrate his attention on getting Pirates back to winning ways after a disappointing campaign, which has seen them fall out of contention for the title.
The Sea Robbers will also want to return to winning ways after they were shocked 1-0 by the University of Pretoria at the Mbombela Stadium during their last outing.
The Buccaneers enter a tough week of fixtures, having to play two Soweto derbies on the trott, as Swallows play host on Wednesday, followed by the highly-anticipated Kaizer Chiefs/Pirates Soweto derby on Saturday.
Last weekend's clash marked interim coach Eric Tinkler's last game in charge, as Tuks ran out winners, bringing an end to Tinkler's eight-game run as the boss of the Soweto giants. Tinkler managed four wins across all competitions, while losing three and drawing the other.
Swallows, meanwhile, will want to improve on their record at home, where they have only picked up 15 out of a possible 30 points at the Dobsonville Stadium.
The Birds could put themselves back into the mix for a top eight finish by claiming maximum points, as they look to climb up the table and out of 11th place.
|DID YOU KNOW?|
- Swallows have yet to win a league game in 2014, drawing two and losing three games since December 31.
- The pair have not met this season, though Swallows claimed two out of two league wins over Pirates last season, including a 3-0 thrashing at Orlando Stadium.
- Pirates have no fresh injury concerns and are still awaiting the return of Rooi Mahamutsa, as well as Siyabonga Sangweni from injuries.
- Bucs finally caught up to the rest of league after a hectic schedule last year, which saw them involved in a Caf Champions League backlog. They will move to 19 games after Wednesday, but still have a game in hand over SuperSport United.
