History:
The Columbus Crew have long stayed true to their team slogan "America's Hardest-Working Team,” but the results have never really matched the efforts except for a US Open Cup victory in 2002. The side has always been competitive, but never been able to break through, having failed to reach the MLS Cup finals. The face of the team for Led by American striker Brian Mcbride, who left the club in 2004 as co-leader with Jeff Cunningham as Columbus's all-time leading scorer, with 62 goals. Crew Stadium, opened in 1999, was the nation's first soccer-specific facility.
