Club History
The New York Red Bulls, formerly the New York MetroStars, were one of the 10 franchise teams when the MLS was created in 1996. They changed their name in 2006 when the club was sold to energy drink giants Red Bull. The best seasons for the Red Bulls was in 2008 when the side reached the MLS Cup final. For the first 13 years of the franchise, the Red Bulls played their home games in Giants Stadium but in 2010 they moved to the newly constructed Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

In 2000 Clint Mathis made MLS history when he became the first and only player to score five goals in a game, notching his record versus Dallas.
