Club History
Internazionale was born in March of 1908, and its name (which in full was Football Club Internazionle di Milano) is a declaration of intent. In fact it was born as a reply to Milan Football and Cricket Club, with the intention of giving space to non-Italian athletes like the first captain, the Swiss Manktl. In 1914 the first Scudetto was won, thanks to a big 11-1 win against Pro Vercelli. Inter succeeded in winning 5 Scudetti before the second world war and two others before 1955, when a new glorious page was written in the nerazzurri’s history with the arrival of Angelo Moratti. After some difficult seasons, incredible records arrived, such as the one of goals scored in a season by Angelillo (33). Still unbeaten, and in the 1960s the nerazzurri won all there was to win, both in Italy and abroad. In 1968 the 10th Scudetto was won, which ended an era. The next high point in was produced by Giovanni Trapattoni, who in the 1988-89 season guided Inter to 58 points in 34 matches. In 1995, the era of President Moratti started. Even now he is still after his first Scudetto, which would enrich his father’s triumphs. However more shadows than light under his management up till now. Together with Juventus, the nerazzurri are the only team never to be relegated from Serie A.
