Alberto Gilardino - Italy (Grazia Neri)
Alberto Gilardino made his debut in Serie A with the Piacenza shirt, when he was 17. One years later he moved to Verona, but the most profitable experience for his career was with Parma. He found a place in the starting XI after Adriano's transfer to Inter, and he started to score freely: 23goals  in 2003/04, 24 in 2004/05.

Great performances which convinced Milan to buy him in the summer of 2005. The Rossoneri paid a latge sum for him (€25 million), but Gila suffered under the pressure from fans and media. His first two season in San Siro were average, but only a few fans were happy with his performances. So, after a final disappointing year in Milan, he left the Rossoneri to play for Fiorentina. With Cesare Prandelli (his former coach at Parma) Gilardino returned to his best form.

Good news for Italy, as he has become an important part of their attack. Gila was already World Champion in 2006, scoring one goal in that tournament. He also scored the decisive goal for Italy's qualification to South Africa 2010, a last gasp goal against Ireland.

Did you know?

He was born on 5 July 1982, the same day that Paolo Rossi scored a hat-trick against Brazil at the World Cup in Spain.
