Overview: Marco Pappa was originally acquired by the Fire in July of 2008 on loan from Guatemalan side CSD Municipal, and quickly proved himself to be a key cog in the Chicago attack.

The Fire made Pappa's loan permanent following the 2009 season, and he rewarded them with a breakout year in 2010. Pappa is a creative left-footed player who has the ability to conjure up moments of magic that few players in Major League Soccer can replicate.

He has an absolute cannon of a left foot, and has proven to be very dangerous on free-kicks, as well as in the run of play. He is usually deployed on the left side of the midfield, but can also play centrally as well in an attacking role.

Pappa won his first cap for Guatemala in 2008 against the United States, and has quickly become a fixture for his country, with 15 caps and two international goals to his name. In a tough group with Jamaica, Honduras and Grenada, Guatemala will need Pappa at his best to advance in this summer's Gold Cup.

Career defining moment: The 2010 season was a breakout year for Pappa, as he won MLS Goal of the Year and made his first career All-Star appearance.

Strengths: Quick, skillful player with the ability to go at defenses and create offense. Has an outstanding left foot which can produce goals from distance if he is given space.

Weakness: Pappa has a great left foot, but he can be over-reliant on it at times. When teams force him to use his right, he is far less effective.
