The word "migration" has been misused so many times, everybody associates unfortunate characteristics with the word. However, that word fits well with Sami Khedira, midfielder of VfB Stuttgart, who is the son of a German mother and a Tunisian father. Now, Khedira who has called immigrants "part of Germany’s future" wants to take the big step, planning to play for Germany at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and to succeed on the original continent of his father.

Khedira's first match for Germany was not too long ago, a 2-0 win against South Africa in September 2009 – the only match of the midfielder for the German national team so far. Although, there was one scene in this match which could be prophetic. In the 73rd minute, Khedira entered the match for Simon Rolfes. The latter is injured and Khedeira may well be his replacement at the tournament.
