The Ukraine international becomes the club's fifth signing of a busy summer, with more players set to arrive in east London

West Ham have completed the signing of Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund.

The Hammers have been in talks with the German club for the past few days, and have finally reached a breakthrough, securing the Ukraine international for a fee of £17.5 million (€20m/$23m).

Chairman David Gold welcomed the new signing to the club, saying: "I am delighted to announce the signing of Andriy Yarmolenko. Andriy is a 28-year-old attacking player signed from Borussia Dortmund.

"He has 77 caps for Ukraine and has played in the Champions League for both Dynamo Kiev and Dortmund. He has signed a four-year deal."

And Yarmolenko expressed his excitement at moving to the Premier League after one season in the Bundesliga, where he scored three goals in 18 appearances.

"Of course, I am very happy to sign for West Ham United," Yarmolenko told the club's website. "West Ham is a big club with good fans and I am happy to come to play in the Premier League.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world and I know that an interesting project is being built here at West Ham. The team wants to achieve high things and I am excited for this challenge."

The Hammers have secured four other players thus far this summer, signing defenders Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop, as well as goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and midfielder Jack Wilshere.

Their business is unlikely to end there, however, with Felipe Anderson also a major summer target of manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Goal understands West Ham have tabled a club-record £40 million (€45m/$52m) bid for the versatile attacking midfielder, and remain in talks with the Serie A club.

While there was initial confusion over whether the club would try to sign both players, they are pressing ahead with negotiations, and there is hope at the club that Yarmolenko and Anderson will be able to feature in the same team.

Sources have also confirmed that central defender Fabian Balbuena, currently of Brazilian club Corinthians, is set to be unveiled imminently; West Ham have triggered the Paraguay international's release clause.
