The Trotters secured a narrow win over Halifax Town in Saturday’s game with the Nigerian ending his barren goal spell

Sammy Ameobi was on target in Bolton Wanderers’ 2-1 victory over Halifax Town in Saturday’s pre-season game.

His 50th minute strike doubled his side lead after Adam Le Fondre had put the Championship side ahead in the first half.

Prior to the game at the MBi Shay Stadium, Bolton had played a 1-1 draw with Atherton Collieries in their build up to the new season.

The game against Halifax provided Ameobi – who recently signed a new two-year deal - a sumptuous moment to put an end to his barren run that spanned for five months.

His last goal for the Trotters was against Bristol City on February 2, in an English Championship fixture played at the Macron Stadium.
