The 21-year-old has been outstanding for the Foxes in their build up to the new season and the midfielder is not surprised by the performance

Wilfred Ndidi has disclosed the reason behind Kelechi Iheanacho’s impressive pre-season form for Leicester City.

On Saturday, the youngster scored a brace to help the King Power Stadium outfit overcome French Ligue 1 side Lille which took his tally to four goals in three games.

However, Ndidi is not surprised by the imposing form of his countryman, explaining that their extra training sessions is paying off.

“Yes, Kelechi is getting there because we work every day in training,” Ndidi was quoted as saying by Leicester Mercury.

“I wasn’t even surprised he scored with the head because just the other day we practice just me and him, just pass and just playing and try to practice.

“It was good and in the previous games also it was good he scored in these games for the confidence.

“I hope he can keep confidence for the next games, not just him but all of the players.”

Leicester open their 2018-19 season against Manchester United and Ndidi is upbeat that their pre-season activities will boost their confidence.

“Of course, that is the idea of the pre-season games, not just the confidence; the match fitness and trying to play together again so it was good,” he continued.

“Because of the international players we didn’t get to play too much but the coach tried to manage the players, giving everyone the minutes and I feel we are getting there.”
