LaLiga World Tournament: Melbourne City announce squad for India tour

A-League side Melbourne City are all set to partake in the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament that will kick-off on July 24 at the JLN Stadium in Kochi, India.

The Australian club will take on Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Kerala Blasters and Spanish LaLiga team Girona FC on July 24 and July 27 respectively before facing Brisbane Roar in a FFA Cup encounter on August 7.

"We are looking forward to playing in front of a good crowd. We are looking forward to two tough games. Obviously, it is pre-season and we have to manage the health of the players. It will also be a chance for the young players to show what they can do. We have got some young players who are with the squad for the first time so we have got to integrate them. Everybody is looking forward to it," Melbourne City head coach Warren Joyce was quoted in an exclusive interview with Goal.

The City Blues reportedly have no major injury concerns and the squad would include a few academy players as well. Michael O'Halloran and Riley McGree will also be tested in competitive fixtures in India. 19-year-old talent Daniel Arzani, who clocked 60 minutes for the Australian national team at the 2018 World Cup, will not be making the trip to India as he has been given extended holiday.

Melbourne City, formerly known as Melbourne Heart FC, finished third in the A-League last season and are one-time winners of the FFA Cup in 2016.
