Kante thanks Ranieri in emotional Instagram post

Chelsea star N'Golo Kante has paid tribute to former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked by the club despite leading them to a remarkable Premier League triumph last season.

Liverpool must not do a Leicester

Kante was a cornerstone of the Foxes side that stunned the world last May with their maiden Premier League title win, despite bookmakers compiling odds of 5000-1 on them lifting the crown.

However, the 2016-17 campaign has stood in stark contrast, with Leicester battling relegation, leaving the club no choice but to sack Ranieri after a run of just five wins in 25 games that has left them 18th in the table ahead of Monday's clash with Liverpool.

Kante, though, who moved to present Premier League leaders Chelsea last summer, has stepped out to join the wave of tributes coming in for the Italian coach, hailing his impact on his own career as well as writing history with Leicester.

Chelsea the real reason for Mou’s Ranieri tribute

"Big thanks with emotion to mister Ranieri for all he has achieved: for the club, for the fans and for me," the midfielder wrote on Instagram.

Kante was signed by Ranieri from Caen in 2015 and played in 37 Premier League fixtures as he became a mainstay for the unlikely champions, earning him a £30 million move to Chelsea.

The Frenchman looks set to win his second successive English title at the end of the season given his Blues lead Tottenham at the top of the table by 10 points.
