Chelsea make surprise move for Crouch


Chelsea have inquired into the availability of Stoke City striker Peter Crouch, according to the Telegraph.

The Blues were in for West Ham's Andy Carroll, but an ankle injury could keep the striker out for months and has ended any possibility of a move. 

And so Chelsea have made a surprise overture to Stoke for the former England striker, who turns 37 this month.

Andy Carroll's potential move to Chelsea is off after the West Ham striker was diagnosed with an ankle injury, according to the  Telegraph .

The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, but is now expected to be out for between four to six weeks and could miss up to four months if surgery is required.


Batshuayi fears Carroll injury may block his exit

Michy Batshuayi fears that a reported serious injury to Andy Carroll will put an end to his hopes of leaving Chelsea on loan. 

The scarcely used striker hoped that a loan move to Sevilla or Dortmund would boost his chances of making Belgium's World Cup squad, but the Blues won't allow Batshuayi to leave without a replacement arriving.

Manchester United have opened preliminary talks with David de Gea over a new long-term contract, according to The Daily  Telegraph .

The Spanish goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of next season although there is an option to extend his deal by another year.

Jose Mourinho said the option would be activated if necessary but the club will still look to lock down De Gea’s long-term future.
