ISL 2017: Former Kerala Blasters star Kervens Belfort signs for Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur FC have added some bite to their frontline by announcing the signing of Haitian winger Kervens Belfort for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The 25-year-old, who turned out for Kerala Blasters last season, was one of the prime reasons behind the Tuskers' run to the final under the guidance of Steve Coppell. He made 15 appearances last season and contributed three goals apart from posing a constant threat on the wings for the opposing teams.

With Steve Coppell choosing to take charge of Jamshedpur FC, who are making their first-ever appearance in the ISL, the Englishman has wasted no time in bringing on board a player who he knows inside out and is undoubtedly a quality addition.

Assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed is also very familiar with Belfort, having played alongside him at Kerala Blasters last season.

With Belfort, who primarily operates from the left wing, signed up and Sameehg Doutie, who can play on the right wing, also recruited, Coppell's team will have no dearth of pace and the frontline already looks deadly.

Coppell, renowned for setting up defensively solid teams which have the ability to hit the opposition on the counters, is evidently focusing on bringing proven performers in the demanding league, having signed the likes of Doutie, Tiri, Mehtab Hossain and Anas Edathodika already.

The TATA Steel-owned franchise will have high hopes as they venture into their inaugural campaign.
