It has also been learnt that Karanjit Singh has penned a two-year contract with the Super Machans.

With only five foreigners allowed in the starting XI from this season onward, most of the teams are opting to tie down reliable Indian goalkeepers and Chennaiyin FC have followed suit.

The former Salgaocar custodian has been a part of Chennaiyin FC since 2015 and won the ISL title in his first season with them, though he made only four appearances.

Though he made nine appearances in the 2016 edition, Chennaiyin could only finish seventh in the table. But Karanjit went on loan to Chennai City FC and played a stellar role for the I-League club, making 12 appearances and winning the man of the match award twice.

Chennaiyin, who have appointed former Aston Villa manager John Gregory as their new head coach, are expected to announce the retention of the second senior player soon.
