Vineeth was earlier felicitated by the Kerala Football Association along with defender Anas Edathodika for their excellent performances throughout the 2016-17 season. The Kannur-lad was the first player to be retained by the Yellow Army ahead of the fourth season of Indian Super League.

The 29-year-old striker, who was previously contracted to Bengaluru FC in I-League, played a huge part in propelling Blasters to the final of last season's ISL. The fan-favourite decision to retain the player means that the state's 'Youth Icon' can continue to inspire football fans across the state as he prepares for the new season.`
