Hoffenheim recreate The Beatles' Abbey Road cover ahead of Liverpool clash

Hoffenheim have been busy acquainting themselves with Liverpool culture ahead of their trip to Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Bundesliga side travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool in the second leg of their play-off tie, having suffered a 2-1 loss in the reverse leg in Germany last week.

Liverpool is famous for many things besides its two football teams, from its witty scouse humour to its glorious waterfront.

But who can forget how the city also produced arguably the greatest band of all time in The Beatles, comprised of local lads John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

And Hoffenheim are clearly fans of the influential rock band, recreating The Beatles' famous Abbey Road cover as their European clash with Liverpool edges ever closer.

Julian Nagelsmann's side posted the image on Twitter followed by the text: “Not Abbey Road, but Anfield Road is awaiting TSG for their #UCL away match. @LFC, here we come!!”

A first-half free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and an own goal from Havard Nordtveit have put Liverpool in control of the tie heading into the second leg.

Hoffenheim are still in the tie, though, thanks to Mark Uth's 87th-minute effort at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena last Tuesday.
