'Football is entertainment' - De Boer looking to turn Crystal Palace into Barcelona, says brother Ronald

The Dutchman is set to take charge at Selhurst Park and is expected to transform the Eagles into a possession-based team

Crystal Palace can expect an entertaining brand of football with an emphasis on possession if Frank de Boer takes over as manager, according to his brother Ronald.

The Eagles have been without a manager since Sam Allardyce left Selhurst Park at the end of last season, with the Dutchman set to be appointed as his successor.

De Boer has been without a job since he was sacked by Inter in November 2016 having been in charge of the San Siro club for only 85 days.

The ex-Ajax defender enjoyed a more successful time while managing his former club, however, winning the Eredivisie title four years in a row between 2011 and 2015.

And twin brother Ronald beileves Palace fans can expect to see their team adopt a similar philosophy to the Dutch giants should Frank take charge.

Asked what his brother can offer, Ronald told Sky Sports: "His way of thinking about football.

“We were brought up with the philosophy of Ajax and Barcelona so you can expect a similar style of ball possession but creative because football is entertainment of course.

“But it also has to combine with results. Of course, he knows that this is very important.

“You will see a team that is well organised and playing as a team.”
