Castillo spent two years with Trabzonspor after a protracted exit from FC Dallas, which saw the MLS side ultimately part with him for a reported $4m.

During his time in Turkey, Castillo scored three times, all during the 2016-17 campaign. He played in just 10 games last season, making only four starts for Trabzonspor and recording two assists.

Previously, Castillo had starred in MLS for Dallas, featuring for the club in parts of six seasons after joining from Deportivo Cali in his native Colombia.

His career high for goals came with Dallas in 2014 when he scored 10, and followed that up with nine goals and nine assists in 2015.

However, Castillo desired to leave for Trabzonspor in the summer of 2016, with disagreements arising over the Turkish club paying an agreed upon fee.

Castillo left Dallas without permission and signed a contract with the club, though eventually a compromise was reached.

He will now return to North America with Xolos, who opened up their 2018 Liga MX Apertura campaign with a 2-1 win over Chivas.

They are next in action July 29 as they visit Tigres.
