Crystal Palace boss Hodgson waits on Zaha ahead of Huddersfield Town tie

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is waiting on Wilfried Zaha to prove his fitness ahead of their clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The 25-year-old forward missed the Eagles’ defeat to Southampton owing to a groin injury but has returned to training with the rest of the squad.

And Hodgson is hoping that the former Manchester United winger alongside James Tomkins will achieve the required fitness level to feature against David Wagner’s men.

"It was Wilf's first training session today,” Hodgson said in a pre-match conference.

"It was debatable whether he should train or not, but he was anxious to try, and the same applied to James Tomkins, so it was really good to see them back out with us again.

"But we will have to wait until tomorrow to see how they react to tomorrow's training session and see if they are going to be available, because both [players], if we listen to our medical department, are coming back early, if not as early as should have been expected."

Zaha has scored two goals in three games prior to the injury and his return will be a huge boost to Palace who are 15th in the league’s log with three points from four games.
