Barcelona Team News: Injuries, suspensions and line-up vs Girona

Barcelona have won all five of their matches so far in La Liga this season and are top of the table ahead of their trip to Girona on Saturday.

Ernesto Valverde's side, who are in action at Sporting CP in the Champions League on Wednesday, travel to Montilivi for a Catalan derby this weekend as they look to make it six wins out of six in the Primera Division.

So far, Barca have beaten Betis, Alaves, Espanyol, Getafe and Eibar in their first five fixtures in La Liga, winning 6-1 against the Basque outfit at Camp Nou on Saturday.

BARCELONA INJURIES

Ousmane Dembele has undergone an operation on a thigh injury he picked up against Getafe last Saturday and the France forward is now expected to be sidelined for up to four months, although he himself claims he could be back sooner than that.

Rafinha is also still out, but coach Ernesto Valverde should have an otherwise full-strength squad to choose from.

BARCELONA SUSPENSIONS

With no players sent off this season and only a handful booked (Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba twice each in La Liga), Barcelona have no suspended stars for the match against Girona.

BARCELONA POTENTIAL STARTING LINE-UP

Ernesto Valverde is set to rotate his pack again for what is his side's fourth game in the space of just 11 days, with the Champions League clash at Sporting CP to follow on Wednesday.

Jordi Alba should return at left-back after sitting out against Eibar on Saturday, but Gerard Pique could be rested in central defence ahead of the trip to Lisbon.

In midfield, Andres Iniesta is likely to be kept in reserve for the Champions League, with Ivan Rakitic in line for a return and Paulinho set to feature again following an impressive full debut on Saturday.

Luis Suarez should start up front after he too was left out on Saturday.

GIRONA TEAM NEWS

Girona are currently in 14th place in La Liga after picking up five points from their opening five fixtures.

The Catalans, in the Primera Division for the first time in their history, started the season with a 2-2 draw at home to Atletico, before a 1-0 win at Montilivi over Malaga and a 2-0 loss at Athletic Club. A 1-0 loss at home to Sevilla came next, with Girona winning another hard-earned point in a goalless game at Leganes at the weekend.

Former Barca defender Marc Muniesa will miss out through injury.
