Mexico and Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez believes Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez’s move from Manchester United to the reigning European champion will work out for the 26-year-old.
“I’m convinced that Chicharito will triumph at Real Madrid, like Raul (Jimenez) at Atletico Madrid and (Javier) Aquino in Rayo Vallecano,” said Sanchez at an event in the town of Ocotlan - outside of Guadalajara - on Monday.
“Chicharito has come out winning (from the move),” he added. “It is a reward for his effort.”

Sanchez played 282 times for Real Madrid, scoring 208 goals, and is widely regarded as the best Mexican player of all time.
Hernandez stated in his press conference Monday that he respected Sanchez’s achievements at his new club, but that he would be looking to pave his own history at Real Madrid.
“To talk about Hugo Sanchez … I think words are unnecessary; everyone knows what that name means to this institution,” said Hernandez. “Hugo had an extraordinary career here, but I’m coming to make my own, to give everything to the institution and to all the Real Madrid fans.”
Sanchez remained upbeat that Hernandez will succeed, although he did express concerns about the amount of playing time the striker will get.
“To play in Real Madrid is like playing for a ‘rest of the world’ team and that will help him fit in,” said Sanchez. “The only inconvenience could be the minutes and games they give him, because there are fixed starters.”
