thumbnail Hello,

The Mexican World Cup star is looking to add some consistency to his club career at Villarreal.

Mexico forward Giovani Dos Santos returned to training at Villarreal on Thursday and declared he is hoping to better his impressive first season at the club.

“I’m conscious that I have to keep improving,” Dos Santos said in a press conference. “Last season was good, but I want to be better in this one.

The 25-year-old added that he is looking to be more consistent over the full season and praised the quality of his teammates, which now include his brother Jonathan Dos Santos.

“I’m very happy (to play with Jonathan) because it is a dream we’ve both had since we were small,” said Dos Santos.

The Mexican indicated the minimum goal for Villarreal is to remain in Spain’s first division this season, but that if the team plays as it did last season, it could be fighting at the top of the table.

“Youngsters with a lot of hunger have come in and I’m sure we’ll have a good season,” he added.

Dos Santos also spoke about Mexico at the World Cup, admitting that the manner of El Tri’s exit hurt, but said there are reasons to be positive moving forward with the younger players coming through.

Dos Santos’ El Tri teammate Javier Aquino was present at training as well, but his future at the club is anything but secure, with rumors indicating he could be loaned out for the season.

Elsewhere in Spain, Andres Guardado returned to Valencia and told the club’s TV station he is ready to fight for a starting spot at the club.
