The Blaugrana director has made it clear that the club is ready to invest heavily in its squad ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.Barcelona vice president Javier Faus has stressed that the Catalans will not hesitate to spend big this summer in order to "maintain sporting excellence."
The Blaugrana are in the market for a new goalkeeper and an extra center back following the departures of Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol, who are set to leave at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the deal to bring Neymar to the club last summer, Faus has insisted Barca will be prepared to invest heavily in order to replace Valdes and Puyol prior to next season.
"We will be making some big investments in the transfer market this summer," Faus was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo. "We are ready just like we will be ready in the future. The club's main priority will always be to maintain sporting excellence. Our financial situation will not be an obstacle."
Barcelona has already reached an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach for the transfer of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen for a fee in the region of 12 million euros and is now set to turn its attention toward defensive reinforcements.
