Xavi: I'm not going to New York

The veteran midfielder wants to finish his current contract with Barcelona, ruling out moves to Qatar or MLS.
Xavi has insisted that he has no intention of leaving Barcelona anytime soon as he aims to finish his current contract with the club.

The influential midfielder has been heavily linked with the New York Red Bulls, while a move to Qatar to end his active career abroad was also believed to be an option for Xavi.

However, the 34-year-old has now made it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona.

"I’m not going to Qatar or New York, I want to finish my contract with Barca," Xavi told the official club website. "I’m staying here, I feel important and useful. I’ve been here for many years, there are a lot of memories and we’ve won a lot of titles with this generation of footballers. One look back and you realize that we’ve really enjoyed ourselves."

Barcelona sits on top of La Liga, level with Atletico Madrid on 54 points from 21 games, with Real Madrid a point behind in third.
