Lionel Messi hopes that one day his son will become a Barcelona supporter.
The Catalan club's all-time leading goalscorer is on the verge of becoming a father and told Fox Sports Radio of his excitement.
"I am grateful to God for all that he gave me. I cannot wait to be with my son," he enthused.
"I imagine that my child will be a Barca fan."
Playing in his ninth season for the first team, Messi has enjoyed unprecedented success at Camp Nou and hopes to continue winning trophies with new manager, Tito Vilanova.
"With Pep [Guardiola] there were four years when we won everything and everyone notices his absence, but with Tito we continue with the same enthusiasm to win titles," Messi stated.
The newly-appointed Argentina captain also hopes to end his nation's long wait for international success.
He said: "I endured very sad times in the team because of the results. It is now time that we win everything."
Messi leads the Liga goalscoring chart with eight goals in six matches, along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao.
Speaking about the Colombian, Messi stated: "He's a great player. It's amazing the quality that he has with both his feet and above."
