The Chile international, who has netted eight times in 19 La Liga appearances since joining from Udinese last summer, feels he must remain humble if he is to realise his dreamBarcelona winger Alexis Sanchez has revealed that his goal is to establish himself as one of the best players in the world before he retires.
The Chile international has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with the Blaugrana, after arriving at Camp Nou from Udinese last summer.
However, Alexis acknowledges that he still has a long way to go if he is realise his dream of leaving a lasting legacy, believing that he must not allow success to go to his head in the same way some of his compatriots have done.
"I would like to end my career as one of the best players in the world and to have brought the name of Chile to the world," he revealed in an interview with his country's National Association of Professional Football (ANFP).
"But life is a challenge and most importantly, I am aware that I have not done anything yet and just have to carry on. So, I'll stay quiet and when I finish my career, I'll see what I did right and what I did wrong.
The forward stressed that you have to have the right mindset to succeed at the highest level.
"It all depends on the mentality, and sometimes the mentality of the Chilean player is weak and gets carried away by many things," he added. "Sometimes he thinks he has already done everything even though he has not done anything. Chilean players are very good, but we need the right mentality."
Alexis, who has been capped 45 times by his national team, has scored eight goals in 19 appearances in La Liga for Barca this season.
