Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho received some disappointing news from the treatment table in the build up to Saturday's La Liga match away to Getafe as defender Marcelo is doubtful due to injury, according to AS.

The Brazilian left-back picked up a leg injury in last weekend's 3-1 win over Real Zaragoza, but stayed on the pitch until the final whistle as Mourinho had already used all three substitutions.

Marcelo underwent further examination on Monday to clarify the extent of the knock, and Madrid fears that the defender could miss the match against Getafe based on the results from an MRI scan.

The expected absence of Marcelo would give former Benfica star Fabio Coentrao the chance to prove his worth at left-back on Saturday.
