Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol has voiced his disappointment with his side's scoreless La Liga draw away against Villarreal on Saturday evening, and feels there's no excuse for its display at El Madrigal.

The Catalans held Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou hardly three days before the match against Villarreal, but Puyol has stressed that the lack of rest in between the two games should not be a problem for Barcelona.

"There are absolutely no excuses. The players are used to playing every three days," Puyol was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

Barcelona now trails table-toppers Real Madrid by seven points following this weekend's results, but Puyol isn't giving up just yet.

"The team will react; we’ll do more, whatever we must to win. La Liga is not lost. We will not give up."

Barca's next game is on February 5 at home versus Real Sociedad.
