Albacete shocked Atletico Madrid with a 2-1 win in an ill-tempered Copa del Rey clash that saw both sides end the game with 10 men.
The home side raced into a two goal lead, courtesy of a penalty on the half hour mark from Antonio Calle, followed by a confident Jose Manuel Zurdo finish on 61 minutes, despite having midfielder Miguel Nunez sent off 10 minutes beforehand. Atletico let its numerical advantage slip when center back Alvaro Soto Dominguez was given his marching orders for a second bookable offense by Jose Antonio Teixeira Vitienes. Despite losing Soto, Atletico managed to reduce the deficit shortly after when Adrian grabbed his eleventh goal of the season, but the comeback was not to be, as Albacete held on for the victory. |

Athletic Bilbao was able to see off Real Oviedo by a 1-0 score with an early goal at the the Estadio Carlos Tartiere. Oscar De Marcos opened the scoring in the 11th minute after cutting inside from the left and curling a fantastic effort past Francisco Lledo and into the top corner with his right foot. Gaizka Torquero went close to adding a second for Bilbao with a header shortly before halftime but as it turned out De Marcos' strike proved to be decisive as Oviedo failed to trouble Bilbao's backline throughout the game. |
