Spain coach Vicente del Bosque said his side played very well against England but lacked spark up front following the 1-0 international friendly loss at Wembley on Saturday.

A Frank Lampard header made the difference on the night as he struck just after the restart to give Fabio Capello's men a lead they were able to hold onto until the final whistle.

Del Bosque said his players should not feel disappointed as they could not have given anything more against a determined England side.

"It's not a sad result as I believe my team gave all they could," del Bosque told Television Espanola. "My team played good football and we had many chances during the match, but in the end we just could not score. We played very well, and we pushed right until the end. They [England] did well too and scored with the only chance they had."

He concluded by admitting his side may have lacked some depth.

"In any case, it was a difficult game against England," the former Real Madrid coach concluded. "We played to our style, perhaps we lacked depth, but in general we are happy with the way we played."

Spain will play Costa Rica on Tuesday in another international friendly.
