The Special One concerned at the possibility of an upset after difficult fixtures.Jose Mourinho has warned fans of the possibility of dropping points at Osasuna, citing the difficulty of their recent fixtures against Sevilla and Atletico Madrid as a possible cause for defeat when they travel to Pamplona on Sunday.
The Portuguese tactician, speaking at a pre-match press conference said, "My only thoughts are on this match. I am concerned about our opponent and their players, who can do a lot of harm to my team. We will do our best to win. We are coming off difficult matches in Seville and the Vicente Calderon [in the Copa del Rey] and we won both."
Mourinho hinted that Xabi Alonso will be available for the fixture, and Adebayor may start his first game for Real Madrid, possibly partnering Benzema up front.
"Higuain will be welcomed back with open arms, but my mind is now at ease with Adebayor and Benzema because they are different yet complementary players," he said.
"It is difficult for a forward to find his way into a team if he doesn’t play, but Adebayor knows what it is like to play for teams that are expected to win. His incorporation into the team has been very smooth. I am sure he will do well.
"Xabi Alonso didn't feel well two days ago, but he is better now. We don't have to make him train when it is raining so hard. He is on the squad list and is healthy enough to play tomorrow."
He also reminded the gathered press that his relationship with Valdano is irrelevant to the running of the club, and justified his assistants' presence at recent press conferences, claiming they say what he would.
"My relationship with Valdano is not what matters. What is important, however, is the one I hold with my players and vice versa.
"I offer press conferences when I want to, not when you [the press] want me to. I don't know how other clubs work, but where I work my assistants are there to work hard, learn and build a future, not hand out bibs.
"I like Karanka to have the opportunity to speak and to learn what a pre-match press conference is all about. Whether it is me or him, his words are my words. I am responsible for what he says. My assistants aren't here for anything less."
