Valencia star David Silva is set to return to action for Los Che on Wednesday night when his side take on Deportivo La Coruna in the first leg of their fifth round Copa del Rey tie at the Mestalla.

Silva missed Valencia's last six outings since straining ligaments in his sides 1-1 Primera Liga draw with Mallorca at the end of November.

There had been fears that the 24-year-old Spain international would face a longer spell on the sideline but he has returned to fitness on schedule and barring setbacks in training early this week, will be available to coach Unai Emery for the cup tie.

Silva had been expected to return for the weekend win over Espanyol but Emery decided not to risk him but did say in a pre-match press conference that Silva was close to a return.

"He is still out but is getting closer," Emery said, according to Super Deporte.
