Barcelona head off to the Club World Championship on a positive note after defeating city rivals Espanyol, and Pep Guardiola was satisfied with the performance.

A controversial penalty decision allowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score the only goal of the game from the spot. Speaking to Marca after the match, Guardiola said, "The effort of previous weeks caught up with us in the second half."

"They put us under pressure. It is a very valuable win, because we were exhausted, and it is a derby.

"I wand to congratulate my team, because we beat a great opponent."

Inevitably, Guardiola was then asked to comment on the penalty, to which he replied, "Baena conceded to Xavi that it was a penalty."

"But I know there will be plenty of talk about it."

Finally, Guardiola expressed his dismay at a decision by the Civil Aviation department that forces the Blaugrana to make a two hour stop in Turkey on the way to the Club World Cup, stating, "We leave at eleven in the morning, and arrive at 11.30 pm there."

"Spending so much time in a plane two days before playing a semi-final against a team that is already there is not ideal."
