According to Realmadrid.com, Benzema and Xavi were connected online in a media launch for the latest football game released by EA Sports. The two stars could see each other's reactions via webcam.
The first half ended 0-0, but Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick in the second half as Benzema showcased his skill and precision on the PS3. The young striker is the on the front cover of the French version of the game, and has been active in its marketing campaign since the summer.
Speaking at the press conference after the match, Benzema told reporters that, "although it was just a video game, I would love for the outcome to be same on the pitch."
The young Frenchman was full of praise for his hat-trick hero, Ronaldo, stating that, "Cristiano is even better in real life than he is in the game."
Although Benzema and Xavi had a little fun today, there will be no friendship between the two come Sunday night, as Los Blancos and Barca square off in what is certain to be the biggest clash of the year.
