Malaga 0-0 Zaragoza (1-1 agg.)

A bore draw in Malaga was cause to celebrate for the hosts as they advance to the Round of 16 on the away goals rule.

A respectable five-figure crowd at the Rosaleda witnessed a disappointing performance from the hosts.

Although Malaga started well, and even forced a couple of saves from Carrizo, they tired quickly and in the second period looked less than impressive.

Zaragoza, though, had little attacking invention in their midfield and failed to grab the decisive goal, though it was there for the taking.

Osasuna 1-0 Xerez (3-1 agg.)

Osasuna finished the job against Xerez thanks to a late goal from Dady - who also scored in the first leg - at the Reyno de Navarra.

Having spurned so many chances in the first leg, Xerez seemed eager to atone as they started the game with energy, but they could carve out no clear opportunities until just before the interval.

In the second period the visitors hit the bar, but it was clear that belief sapped from their play towards the closing stages.

Masoud then set up Dady for a late strike that all but buried the Andalucians, and Osasuna can look forward to the next round.

Tenerife 0-1 Celta (1-3 agg.)

Celta pulled off a shock by not only preserving but also adding to their aggregate lead over a Tenerife side who drop out of the Copa del Rey.

Bringing a 2-1 lead from the first leg, the Galician side were determined not to concede.

That said, Tenerife pressed them all the way, Alfaro forcing a great save from Yoel early on, and Juanlu setting up further chances in the second period.

The hosts really should have taken the lead through Dinei shortly after the break when the forward blazed over when faced with goal, but the islanders wer then encouraged when Vasco Fernandes was sent off for a second booking 15 minutes from time.

All this did, though, was spur Celta on, and Danilo got on the end of a Dani Abalo cross to net the decisive goal and send his side through.

Deportivo 0-0 Murcia (1-0 agg.)

A crowd of just 5,000 saw Deportivo do enough to knock out a Murcia side whose dreadful season became no better tonight.

After starting well Depor began to treat the match as a formality, resulting a in a brief comeback for Murcia in the second period.

However, the visitors' hopes were all but extinguished 15 minutes from time when Inaki Bea was sent off for a foul on Sergio in the box. Adrian Lopez took the penalty, but Alberto's save kept the scores level.

Depor saw out the game in comfort and advance to the next stage, albeit in little style. Their league form, though, remains excellent. Murcia can't say the same: they're joint last in the Segunda with no wins thus far.

Sporting Gijon 1-1 Recreativo (2-2 agg. (2-4 pens))

Recreativo took a Primera scalp by eliminating Sporting at the Molinon after a penalty shoot-out.

Following a 1-1 first leg all was in the balance in Asturias, although it seemed as if the hosts would have it all their own way when David Barral netted from six yards after just two minutes following Pedro's cross.

But on the half hour mark Recre leveled the tie through young Argentine forward Jeronimo Barrales with a fine far post header after great work from Pablo Sanchez.

There were to be no more goals, even through an extra time period that saw Sporting introduce attack-minded tactics to proceedings.

In the end the visitors held their nerve, netting four spot-kicks while Sporting could manage just two.

Sevilla 5-1 Atletico Ciudad (9-3 agg.)

Sevilla put in the most goal-filled showing of the evening with a late-but-great thrashing of Lorqui-based Atletico Ciudad.

After an uneventful first half, Josu Santamaria gave the visitors a surprise lead, but the makeshift Sevilla lineup soon fought back.

Just five minutes later Jesus Navas netted a superb solo effort to equalize, and then Alvaro Negredo won a penalty that Fredi Kanoute put away with ease.

Luis Fabiano added a third with a lovely free-kick, and then young midfielder Jose Carlos scored his first goals for the first team with a pair of confident, left-footed strikes.
