A second-half goal from Filipe Luis, together with an early Mista header, gave Deportivo a well-earned win over Getafe even after being reduced to nine men.
The visitors got the lead in the first chance of the match, on 14 minutes, when Filipe Luis' cross from the left found Mista alone, and the striker made no mistake with a well-placed header.
Deportivo were reduced to ten men in the 27th minute, as Riki was shown his second yellow card for a handball following a cross from the left. Eight minutes later, it would be their coach, Miguel Angel Lotina, to be sent to the stands for protesting.
Getafe almost scored in the 40th minute, through Pedro Leon, but Aranzubia denied the winger's well-placed corner with a great save.
The second half began with Deportivo the brighter, and the visitors found the back of the net for a second time in the 58th minute, when Guardado, with an individual move down the right, unexpectedly assisted Mista, who had just the keeper to beat but opted to turn provider and serve Filipe Luis, who comfortably slotted home.
Depor would have another man sent off, this time being Sergio, in the 71st minute, after he brought down Gavilan to stop what could have been a dangerous counter-attack.
