Real Madrid's Guti Denies Disrespecting Coach Manuel Pellegrini
He says their half-time conversation is a normal occurrence.
Real Madrid midfielder Guti has denied claims that he has no respect for coach Manuel Pellegrini after reports of a verbal tirade directed at the Chilean by the veteran midfielder during half-time in their humiliating Copa del Rey defeat to Alcorcon.
"It's not true what has been published in the media. My relationship with the the coach is very good and there was a discussion at half-time of the game against Alcorcon which was a normal private conversation inside the locker room at half-time of any game in which things go wrong. There was no disrespect to the coach, especially because it's not my approach or my way of doing things," Guti said, in an interview on the clubs official website.
The midfielder, who turns 33 on Saturday, added that he has a good relationship with his coach and reaffirmed that Pellegrini is part of the reason he remained a Blanco this season.
"There was a typical discussion but at no time was there anything more. I've always said from the beginning [the relationship with Pellegrini] has been very good. One of the keys to why I continue at Real Madrid," Guti remarked.
Guti also took time to apologize for an obscene gesture made during the game saying that a "Real Madrid player can never do something like that."
