David Villa Makes Progress In Race To Face Barca
El Guaje has finished his recuperation and is back running.
Valencia striker David Villa has made another step forward in his attempts to be fit to face Primera Liga leaders Barcelona on Saturday, returning to running for the first time since injuring himself in the 1-0 win over Racing Santander eight days ago.
Villa was scheduled to be out of action for three weeks but after completing his recovery sessions in the gym, Super Deporte report that there is now a genuine chance he will be fit to play some part in Saturday nights game at the Mestalla, barring any setbacks in the coming days.
Coach Unai Emery has a further four days to assess the recovery of El Guaje before making a decision on whether to include the leagues top scorer against the champions but at this stage it appears a decision to include the striker will be a last minute one.
The end of Villa's gym work is not the only goo news for Emery, who also has Vicente and Joaquin well on the road to recovery but it is not known if either will be ready to face the Blaugrana.
