Villarreal's Cazorla Optimistic Ahead Of La Liga Campaign
The flying winger is pleased with the progress the team are making under their new coach.
There are only days to go before Villarreal kick off their Primera Division campaign against Osasuna, and Santi Cazorla has reiterated his belief that the Yellow Submarine must aim for the top.
"Today, lots of things can happen in a game and in the league what you have to do is be consistent," he explained to Marca.
"On paper, they [Barcelona and Real Madrid] are favorites, but many things could happen in this competition."
New coach Ernesto Valverde will be aiming to improve on Villarreal's fifth-placed finish in order to regain their Champions League spot.
For now though, Cazorla believes that the team must concentrate on their Europa League game against NAC Breda to avoid any upsets. The Spanish side hold a 3-1 lead from the first leg, with the return leg taking place tomorrow evening at el Madrigal.
"We have a very positive result, but we must not be over-confident because if we approach the game like it is already won, we'll do badly."
