Real Madrid's Higuain: I Must Fight To Stay In The Team
The Argentine admits that he has a tough time ahead of him.
Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain faces vast squad competition next season due to the arrival of new signings at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the Argentine is unfazed by this prospect.
"It will be a joy to share the stadium [with Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Karim Benzema]," he told sports daily Ole.
"If I want to play, even though I scored 22 goals last season, I still really need to go for it in preseason.
"CR9 and Kaka? They're two world-class players - both have a Ballon d'Or - and can really dictate play and push us forward.
"As for Ronaldo, he can play in many different positions because he's a player of real class, playing as well in midfield as up front."
Regarding Argentina's national team, Higuain is patiently waiting for a call-up.
"I'm calm about this," he said. "Until the announcement of the squad list, I don't know. So, I'll have a good season with Madrid and continue to hope that I will be called up."
"I would reject a call from France [for whom he is eligible by birth] because my heart is Argentine."
