Real Madrid's summer spending has already exceeded the €200 million mark, but the club continue to be linked with a move for more new players.

Perez has been the subject of criticism for spending large sums of money at a time when the world is facing a financial crisis, and he has now responded to such claims, defending the profitability of the club's investments.

"Those who criticize this way to act are not from Real Madrid," Perez told SER.

"In my first term, thanks to the signings we made, we went from charging 400 million for a certain ad on the front of our shirts to receiving 4,000 million.

"And that's what will happen now."
