Iniesta Begins Holidays, Plans July 27 Return With Barca

After weeks of treatment, the Blaugrana midfielder has been given the green light to go on his holidays.

Despite missing out on Spain’s Confederations Cup campaign due to injury, Andres Iniesta still had to postpone his vacation plans and stay back at Barcelona to undergo rehabilitation on his injured right leg, including unsupervised double-session workouts.

And after weeks of treatment, Barca’s chief doctor, Ricard Pruna personally conducted an ultrasound scan Friday morning to assess his condition and he was supremely pleased with the results.

According to Sport, the muscle tear on the player’s upper right thigh has healed completely and he has now been cleared to go on his holidays, although he has been advised to continue recuperation work at least one hour a day.

The recovery schedule has been set-up as such in anticipation for the midfielder to make a full return to the squad on July 27 so that he can head off for the pre-season tour of the United States two days later.

“To be honest, I’m feeling superb. Now I will be able to go on vacation because I’ve made plans,” he told reporters when he emerged from the Ciutat Esportiva facilities.

Iniesta has been granted permission to skip the team’s early preseason trip to London so that he can have a full month’s holiday to rest and recover.
